The effects of camp-type Intensive Learning Program to prepare for the state examination

Abstract

|
Purpose: The difference in the achievement among college students is one of the most important problems that make the education method difficult. This study aims to improve college students¡¯ academic performance and satisfaction with major with intensive learning program.
Methods: An intensive learning program was carried out with graduates-to-be through a training camp during summer vacation from 2012 through 2015, and the improvement of their score in a mock test and the result of the state examination taken in December each year were analyzed. A survey on their satisfaction was conducted on-line.
Results: Results of the developing and operating an intensive learning program, The state examination acceptance ratio of the 3rd grade juniors in the Department of Optometry, Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology was relatively higher than any other department of optometry in korea. Also department satisfaction was high.
Conclusions: The result showed that there were academic performance and satisfaction with major with intensive learning program. But this research program has been developed taking into account student characteristics for the optician's license. So it is necessary to be reconstructed according to the characteristics of subjects.
